Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned leader to head New Product Development, Quality Assurance, and R&D for the organization across Beauty & Personal Care categories. This role will own the end-to-end product lifecycle - from innovation strategy and formulation to commercialization, quality, and compliance.
The VP will play a critical role in driving innovation-led growth, ensuring best-in-class product quality, optimizing costs, and enabling scalable launches across domestic and international markets. This role requires strong cross-functional leadership across Brand, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Innovation & Strategy
● Define and drive the long-term product and innovation roadmap aligned with brand and business goals
● Identify emerging trends, consumer insights, and white spaces to build a strong innovation pipeline
● Deliver high-impact, differentiated product launches across categories
2. End-to-End Product Development (NPD)
● Lead the complete lifecycle: concept → formulation → validation → commercialization
● Ensure on-time, high-quality launches through strong governance and program management
● Oversee stability testing, claims validation, and product performance benchmarks
● Partner with Brand/Marketing on product briefs, claims, and positioning
3. Quality Assurance & Compliance
● Establish and enforce best-in-class quality standards across all SKUs
● Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across India and global markets
● Lead claims substantiation (efficacy, certifications, platform compliance)
● Oversee batch validation, GRN approvals, and quality audits
4. Cost Optimization & Product Improvement
● Drive continuous reformulation for cost efficiency and performance enhancement
● Lead alternate vendor development (AVD) and sourcing strategies
● Identify opportunities for proprietary blends, exclusivity, and innovation-led differentiation
5.Manufacturing & Technology Transfer
● Lead seamless technology transfer from lab to commercial scale, ensuring scalability, quality, and cost efficiency
● Evaluate and onboard third-party manufacturers (3P) based on capability, quality, and commercial viability
● Oversee lab trials, pilot batches, and commercial production to ensure smooth and timely scale-up
6. Supply Chain & Procurement Collaboration
● Partner with Supply Chain to ensure RM availability and launch readiness
● Support procurement in vendor identification and cost optimization
● Drive efficiencies in MOQ, sourcing, and overall cost structures
7. Lab Operations & Governance
● Oversee lab operations, infrastructure, and safety standards
● Ensure optimal inventory management and zero stock-outs of critical materials
● Drive SOPs, documentation, and process standardization across R&D and QA
8. Stakeholder Management
● Act as a key partner to Brand, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Supply teams
● Resolve critical product, quality, and supply escalations
● Drive cross-functional alignment through structured governance cadences
9. Team Leadership & Capability Building
● Build and lead a high-performing R&D and QA organization
● Drive hiring, mentoring, and succession planning
● Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement
10. Innovation & Future Readiness
● Build advanced research and in-house innovation capabilities
● Explore AI/digital tools to enhance R&D productivity and speed
● Stay updated with global trends through industry forums, expos, and partnerships
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, Pharmacy, or related field
● 15+ years of experience in R&D / Product Development / QA in personal care, beauty, pharma, or FMCG
● Proven track record of leading NPD and scaling products from lab to market
● Strong expertise in formulation, regulatory compliance, and contract manufacturing
● Demonstrated leadership in managing large teams and cross-functional stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
● PhD or advanced specialization in formulation sciences
● Experience in global product launches and regulatory frameworks
● Certification in Project Management (Agile/PMI) is a plus
